Born March 7, 1932, in Butternut, she was the daughter of Homer and Mary Baxter Bupp. She graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1950 and spent many years teaching handicap students at Forest Grove School and more recently at Freedom Acres School, Ionia. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 4461. Surviving is her husband, Carl Lewis, to whom she was married in Aug. 26, 1955, in Kalamazoo. Also surviving are; a son Jon, of Lake Odessa; two daughters, Michelle Smith and Lisa Mantlo, both of Lake Odessa; her mother and stepfather, Mary and William Bupp; three grandchildren; and one stepbrother, Lyle Bupp, of Owossa; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa, with the Rev. Daryl Kauffman officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.. A memorial has been established for Freedom Acres School.
