Lewis, 46, of 615 South Bridge street, Belding, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon at Gerber Memorial hospital in Fremont. He became ill suddenly while on a fishing trip with his wife. Mr. Lewis was an employee of Standard Oil division of American Oil company. He was a veteran of World War II, and a member of Hugo Fales Post 203 American Legion of Belding and Voiture 1420, Ionia-Montcalm County. Surviving are his wife, Mary; a son, Jack Lewis of Belding; three daughters, Mrs. Margo Quillan of Belding, and Glenna and Penny at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Lewis of Cedar Springs; one sister, Mrs. Vivian Denton of Howard City; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fitzjohn-Courser funeral home in Belding with the Rev. Robert Lilley officiating. Military graveside service will be under the auspices of Hugo Fales post at River Ridge cemetery. The family will meet friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, and 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday.
