He was born August 2, 1937 in Lyons, the son of Raymond and Agatha (O’Hara) Lincoln. After graduating from Ionia schools, he attended Aquinas College for two years, and University of Detroit for three years. He then became a metallurgical engineer, and established his own engineering-based consulting business, Lincoln Associates. He married Wilma Jean De Bois on October 22, 1960 in the St. Andrews Cathedral of Grand Rapids. Joseph was a lifetime member and former president of ASM, a lifetime member SAE, and the CEO of Lincoln Associates. He has 27 patents to his name. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Wilma Jean (De Bois) Lincoln of Grand Rapids, sons Thomas Lincoln of Chicago, and Peter Lincoln of Denver, daughter Deborah Lincoln of Grand Rapids, sister Anne Marie Lincoln of Lyons, grandson Hunter Joseph Lincoln of Grand Rapids, sisters-in-law Edith Lincoln of Lyons, Mildred Lincoln of the Detroit area and Marvel De Bois of Grand Rapids, and many nieces and nephews. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. The family will receive friends at the Metcalf-Jonkhoff Funeral Home at 4291 Cascade Road, Grand Rapids on Monday, and again on Tuesday, August 3, at Lake Funeral Home on South State Road, in Ionia from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ionia, on Wednesday at noon with Father Melvin Fox officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
