John J. Lincoln, 65, of Muir, passed away on June 20, 2000.  He was born in
Lyons on Feb. 25, 1935, the son of Ray and Agatha (O’Hara) Lincoln.  He lived in
Lyons Township for most of his life.  Lincoln was a member of the SS Peter and
Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Jaycees of Ionia.  He served
18 years with the Michigan National Guard, reaching the rank of captain.  He
owned and operated John’s Floor Covering Service for many years in the Ionia area.

John married Edith Kimball on June 16, 1956, and she survives along with three
sons, Robert (Christine) Lincoln of Ionia, Edward (Tammy) Lincoln of Ionia and
David Lincoln of Grand Rapids; six daughters, Joan Lincoln of Muir, Theresa
(Daryel) McCarn of Ionia, Susan Lincoln of Ionia, Patricia (Scott) Dann of Muir,
Mary Anne (Eric) Linderman of Ionia, Maureen Lincoln and fiancé, Jason Campbell
of Muir; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Anne of Lyons;
two brothers, Patrick (Mildred) Lincoln of St. Louis, and Joseph (Jean) of
Milford.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary and one
brother, Raymond.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday at SS. Peter and Paul
Catholic Church with Rev. Melvin Fox, Celebrant.  Interment will be at Lyons
Township Cemetery.  Visitation will be at 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 8:30
p.m., today at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  There will be a scripture
service at 8 p.m.  In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in John’s
name to the Lyons Township First Responders, Lyons-Muir Unit, or the wishes of
the family.
