Ellen S. Lindberg, 78, of Ionia, died Sunday at the Hazel I. Findley County
Manor.  She was born the daughter of Adolf and Minnie Nitz Wender on November
18, 1912 in Sebawaing.  She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Ionia County
Memorial Hospital, Ionia, for several years and later at the Michigan State
Hospital for 17 years until her retirement in 1974.

She was a member of the Ionia Golf and Country Club, St. John’s Episcopal
Church, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the Silver Guild Organization of the St.
John’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by one brother, Carl of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Martha
Sutherland of Lansing and Elsie of Detroit; several nieces and nephews.  She was
preceded in death by her two husbands, Dr. T.J. Cox of Ionia in 1951 and George
L. Lindberg of Ionia in 1979.

Funeral mass will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the St. John’s Episcopal
Church, with the Rev. Scott Anderson officiating.  Organist will be Renate
Conrad.  Private burial will be in the Sunset Hills Cemetery in Flint.  The
family will be at the Cook Funeral Home, Ionia, Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m.  A
memorial has been established for the St. John’s Episcopal Church of the
American Society, in care of the funeral home.
