He was aged 69 years, and is survived by a wife, but no children. Joseph Lindley was numbered among the older merchants of Ionia. As a business man he commanded the highest respect. He as a man of sterling qualities, upright in a faultless degree. The community was the better for his having lived in it. The funeral services will be attended from St. John’s Episcopal church, at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The casket and remains may be viewed by friends between the hours 11 and 1 tomorrow at his late place of residence. Mr. Lindley came to Ionia in 1871 and started a shoe store in a frame building located where Lauster’s grocery now stands, and thenceforth to the date of his death conducted an honorable and profitable trade.
