The funeral was held at 11 o’clock Tuesday at the Baptist church conducted by Rev. Hagerman, who preached from John 18:11, “The cup which my Heavenly Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?” Mr. Lindley was 71 years old and was born in Ohio March 31, 1837. He came to this part of Michigan in 1853 and was one of the best known farmers in this community settling first in Danby. He married Miss Ammirilla P. Daniels Dec. 25, 1858. They lived for awhile in Danby, moving from there to Odessa and then to Sebewa where they lived until about three years ago when Mrs. Lindley passed to the other shore. A few years ago he moved to Portland with his youngest son Herman and for a short time ran the feed barn. When he sold out he went to live with his eldest son. He had been in failing health for some time but was seriously sick only about a week. He leaves three sons and two daughters. They are Andrus, Ammon and Herman Lindley, Mrs. Anna Peacock and Mrs. Eunice Daniels, also many friends who all will remember him as an exemplary man, a kind father, a good citizen and neighbor. The remains were laid by the side of those of his wife in the church cemetery.
