Lake Odessa Wave, February 3, 1905
Mrs. Stephen Lindley, an old resident of Sebewa, died at the home of her son, 
Herman Lindley, of Ionia, on Monday, January 30th, 1905, after an illness of 
about a week.  She was aged 64 years.
The funeral was held from the Baptist church in Sebewa yesterday and the 
remains interred in the near by cemetery.
Mrs. Lindley was born in New York, Dec. 10th, 1840.  Her parents moved to 
Michigan when she was a young girl, they first settling on a farm near 
Marshall, later they moved to another farm near Lowell and then to North 
Odessa.  She was married to Mr. Lindley when 19 years of age, and they bought 
the 80-acre from that has been their home for nearly forty years.  Last 
November they rented their farm, at the earnest solicitation of their children, 
agreeing to stop hard work and take life easier.  They then went to Ionia to 
live with a son, agreeing to remain there a year and then if they could stand 
being away from the old home they would buy a place and make that their 
permanent home.  Mrs. Lindley had been sick but a few days, before seemingly 
enjoying good health. 
To Mr. and Mrs. Lindley were born seven children, five of whom remain to mourn 
the loss of the dear parent, they being Mrs. S. L. Peacock and Mrs. Andrus 
Daniels, of Sebewa; Herman and Ammon Lindley, of Ionia, and Andrus Lindley, of 
Portland, all married and enjoying the fruits of good and prosperous lives.
Deceased has been a life-long Christian worker, and a member of the 
Presbyterian church in Sebewa since it was organized.
