The daughter of L.J. and May Elizajane Malosh Crankshaw, she was born September 7, 1910 in Grand Rapids. On July 11, 1928, in Belding, she married Charles L. Lindsey. After raising her family, Zella enrolled in beauty school at the age of 48. For many years she owned and operated Zella’s Beauty Shop. She was a longtime member of Community of Christ Church (formerly Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), Order of the Eastern Star Princess-Doric Chapter and Cleveland-Wolverton VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Greenville. Before her health failed her, she enjoyed handicrafts, especially needlework and sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Lindsey, on August 1, 1986; two sons, Bert Charles Lindsey, Vern Kale Lindsey; two sisters, Ella Stanke, Edna Orvis; and two brothers, Hoyt Crankshaw, Eugene Crankshaw. She is survived by two daughters, Drusilla “Dru” Hoxie of Potterville, Priscilla “Perky” Lindsey of Cedar Springs; son and three daughters-in-law, L.J. “PeeWee” and Katherine “Tena” Lindsey of Belding, Martha Lindsey of Key West, Florida, Elizabeth “Betty” Lindsey of Greenville; brother, Earl Crankshaw of Gowen; 17 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services are 3 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, with Elder Varian Bauman officiating. Private interment is in Rest haven Memory Gardens, Belding, on Monday. Envelopes for memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society are available at the funeral home, where the family will receives relatives and friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
