G. D. Kaufman, of St. Louis, Mich., assisted by Rev. J. H. Stewart, of the local Baptist church, officiating. Burial was made in Portland cemetery. Miss Ida Hendee was born in Vernon, Shiawassee county, October 27, 1855, and was married to N. L. Lindsley in October 1876. After the marriage they came to Portland township where they lived for five years when they moved to Isabella County. Five years ago they moved back to Portland and have resided in this vicinity since. Mrs. Lindsley was a sincere Christian woman, having for many years been a member and active worker of the Baptist church. She is survived by her husband and three children: Mrs. Mable Hartwell of Owosso; Lloyd Lindsley of Orange township; and Carl Lindsley of Sebewa township. She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great grandchild. The relatives and friends from a distance to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Hendee, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hendee and Mr. and Mrs. Hal Hendee, of Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Keith Otto and Mr. and Mrs. Royal Hendee, of Grand Ledge; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kirker, of Holt; L. T. Merrill of Alma; Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Merrill of Winn, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ripley of Mt. Pleasant, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Oswald and Rev. and Mrs. G. D. Kaufman, of St. Louis.
