Calvin Linebaugh, 63, died at his home in Orange at 6:30 Monday morning, June 11, after several weeks of illness. Mr. Linebaugh was born August 15, 1881, in Orange township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Linebaugh. He was married March 17, 1908 to Miss Ila Mattoon of Moravia, New York. At the age of 18 he started teaching school at the Riker school in Orange. He taught in several rural schools in Ionia county and later taught in the public schools of Portland, Holt, Orleans and Hubbardston. He was superintendent of schools at Harrisville for four years and at Boyne Falls for six. He returned to Ionia county and taught in the Randall and Kilmartin school until he retired in 1938. He was Orange township treasurer, supervisor and clerk. He was the Orange township clerk at the time of his death. He was county school commissioner for four years. Mr. Linebaugh is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Trierweiler, of Ionia; four sons, William of Lake Odessa, Carl, Roy and Howard, of Ionia; four brothers, Lafayette of Lyons, Frank of Portland, Floyd of Lansing and Fay of Ann Arbor; a sister, Mrs. Arthur Elvert, of Portland and one grandchild. Funeral services will be Thursday with a prayer service at the home at 2 o’clock and services at the LeValley church at 2:30 with the Rev. Howard Fuller officiating. Interment will be in the Balcom cemetery.
