Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Saranac for Mrs. Emma 
Litchfield, 88, who was called by death last Friday while visiting at the home 
of her niece, Mrs. Oscar Pierce, at South Ionia.

Mrs. Litchfield was born in Pennsylvania, September 4, 1841.  When still a 
small child she moved to Ohio with her parents, coming to Michigan as a young 
lady.  

On May 9, 1888 she married S. O. Litchfield, of Lowell, and after the ceremony 
the couple settled in Lowell.  She continued to live there until about four 
years ago when she moved to Saranac to make her home with her niece, Mrs. 
Henry Harris from whose home she was buried.  She had been living with Mrs. 
Harris but went to South Ionia last fall to visit Mrs. Pierce.  The also 
leaves a niece, Mrs. Francis Walters, of Saranac.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. O. Hayward.  Burial was in Grand 
Rapids.
