March 21, 1913 OBITUARY Mrs.George Liverton Miss Grace Spencer was born in New York state June 10, 1856 and died at her home in Berlin, MAr. 7, 1913, aged 56 years 8 mos and 27 da. In 1882 she was married to Wm. Golden and moved to Illinois. To this union were born two children William and Charles. After death of Mr.Golden she returned home and was again married to John Gorman and moved to S. Dakota where they endured many privations of pioneer life including the distruction caused by forest fire. To this union was born one son James who accompanied his mother home to Grand Ledge where she made her home with brothers and sisters. Dec. 10, 1892 she was united in marriage to Mr. George Liverton of Berlin township where she has since lived surrounded by all the necessities of life and the comforts of a beautiful home. For the past year she had not been as strong as formerly, and had consulted occasionally medical advice. Last September however she was taken seriously ill and the best of medical skill summoned but the disease which was of the heart, was so far advanced that it was impossible to effect a cure and the only result would be death in the not distant future. She was advised to keep as quiet as possible which is a hard thing to do for an ambitious person. But a strong constitution defied death until Friday Mar. 7, when she was taken violently ill and died before medical aid could reach her. She was a kind industrious, and greatly respected woman loved by her sons and husband who survives her and will be greatly misses by her friends in the neighborhood as well as the home circle. Besides her husband and sons she leaves three brothers Eugene, Charles and James Spencer of Grand Ledge, sister Mrs.Nellie DeWitt of Lansing and another sister Mrs.Flora Doty of the state of Washington. All but the latter were present at the funeral which was held at the home as mentioned in last week's isssue and the burial was at Letts Cemetery. Additional Comments: Letts Cem.
