Lloyd passed away at the city hospital Monday afternoon where she had a stroke about two weeks ago and had been in a coma since that time. She had her first stroke about a year ago and had been in failing health since then, although well enough to be around the house at times and enjoyed having friends call. She was born July 15, 1866 in Easton township, the daughter of Sylvester and Cynthia Thompson and came to this city with her parents 75 years ago, living the entire time at the residence at the corner of Pleasant and Center streets. She was one of very few people, who lived in Belding before it was even a town. She graduated from the local high school with the class of 1885 and was always interested in its alumni association. She was married to Elvon C. Lloyd Sept. 18, 1888 and had always kept up an active interest in all civic and social affairs. She was a member of the Congregational church, a life member of Doric chapter No. 75, OES, a member of Ladies Literary club, the Study club, Social circle, Washington club, Goodfellowship club, East Otisco Farmers club and a charter member of the Ladies Thimble Club. She often opened her home for meetings of these organizations and for the Business and Professional Women’s club, although she was not a member of this club. She also served on the library board. She is survived by one son, Elvon C. Jr., of Bayside, Long Island, N.Y., two grandchildren and one niece, Mrs. R. R. Edwards of Ionia. The funeral service was held Wednesday at 2 o’clock at Fales-Huffman Funeral Home with Rev. P.L. Graham officiating. Interment was in River Ridge cemetery beside her husband, Elvon C. Lloyd, who passed away De. 27, 1948. Pallbearers were Emil Ferick, Bert Hall, Glen Wortley, Carter Churchill, Ambrose Spencer and Clarence Wheeler.
