Locher, aged 57 years and 13 days. Mary L. Marsh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abram R. Marsh, was born near Monroeville, Huron county, Ohio, July 20, 1843. She was married to Joseph A. Locher, December 5th, 1865. In the fall of 1868 with her husband and infant son, they came to Michigan and settled near Saranac where they have since resided. There were eight children three sons and five daughter, born to them. She leaves a husband and six children and three brothers besides a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. Mrs. Locher will not only be missed in the home circle where she was loved and cherished as only a fond mother and wife can be but by all who have had the pleasure of meeting her in daily and social life. She had a remarkable faculty of always looking on the bright side of life and always had a cheerful, happy greeting for all. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. The funeral was held from the residence Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H.C. Snyder. ------------ Ionia Sentinel, 16 Aug 1900 Of the wife of Hon. Joseph A Locher, who died recently at Saranac, the Local says: "Mrs. Locher was the mother of eight children, three sons & five daughters, of whom six are still living & who, with their father, mourn the loss of a devoted mother & wife. The funeral services were held from the family residence Saturday afternoon. The remains were laid to rest in the Saranac cemetery." Deceased was 57 years of age & was married to Mr. Locher in 1865. [Transcriber's Note: Both the Saranac cemetery records and the photo of the cemetery marker indicate a death date of Aug. 12, 1902.
