Lake Odessa Times, 16 Nov 1905

J. S. Locke, an old resident of Berlin, died at the home of his step-daughter, 
Mrs. W. S. Lowrey, at Grand Rapids last Monday morning.  The remains were brought 
here Tuesday morning and funeral services were conducted from the Berlin Center 
church at one o’clock of the same day.  Interment was made in the Letts 
cemetery.  Deceased was step-father of Mrs. Chas. McCoy of this place.  He leaves 
a son, Frank Locke, of Grand Rapids, who together with Mr. and Mrs. Lowrey were 
in attendance at the funeral services.
