Ionia Daily Sentinel, 29 Jul 1918

Charles H. Locke, of Grand Rapids, former Ionia nightwatch and marshal shot 
himself at this home there Sunday morning.  The bullet entered his body near the 
heart.  He had been ill for some time with neuritiac and had threatened to take 
his life before.  He was 63 years of age and leaves a widow, four daughters and 
three sons.  He was a member of the Odd Fellows and M.W.W.
