Mr. and Mrs. Locke came here from Ionia several years ago and purchased the home formerly owned by the late Henry Patterson, at 407 Pleasant street. Mrs. Locke had attained the age of 88 years, having been born in Shelby, New York, in 1841. She taught school prior to her marriage to Wilbur H. Locke, December 16, 1866. The grand old people have enjoyed 64 years of married life and during all that time have been residents of Ionia county. Two sons were born to them, Alfred R. and Charles P., both have preceded their mother in death and who were former attorneys in Ionia. Mrs. Locke attended the Methodist church and was a member of the Woman’s Relief Corps in which she took an active part until her health failed. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the home, Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating. Burial will be made in River Ridge cemetery. She is survived by her husband and two grand children, Mrs. Byron Philip, of Port Huron, and Allen B. Locke, of Ionia; also three great grand-daughters.
