The report of the death of Mrs. Frank Locke Monday morning was a sad surprise to her many friends in the city. Her sickness was of short duration, proceeding from a cold taken a few weeks ago and not until Saturday was her ailment considered dangerous. She died at five o’clock. Mrs. Locke, whose name was Mary Bird Foote, was born in Ionia. She was the daughter of C.B. Foote of this city. Her marriage to Mr. Locke was blessed by the birth of two children, Charley and Harold, now aged three and six years. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. Locke, who also lost his first wife and three children. The funeral services, which were largely attended, were held in the Congregational church, with which society she affiliated. At her request the remains are buried in Green’s cemetery by the side of a brother. The order of Modern Woodmen attended in the body.
