Locke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur H. Locke of this city died in Ionia Monday night at 10:30 o’clock. He had been sick for two weeks, and while it was known that his disease was of a severe nature it was not generally known that his illness was serious. When his symptoms became of an alarming nature his parents were at once notified, but he passed away before they could reach his bed side, his brother Alfred being with him when the end came. The death of a man in early prime of life is especially sorrowful, and the news of his taking away is a shock to the community, and brings sadness to many hearts, to whom his generous impulses and genial nature had been revealed. The deceased was born in Easton, April 22, 1870, he graduated from the Belding High school in 1886 and from the Agricultural College in ’91. He studied law in Lansing and Detroit and afterward located in Ionia, being at one time a member of the firm of Locke, Murphy & Locke. A year ago he formed a partnership with John Nichols and the firm was doing an excellent business. He was married eight years ago, on Dec. 30, 1896, to Miss Louise Draugt of Port Huron, who, with two children, a boy of six years and a girl of 2, are left to mourn their great loss. The funeral will be held in Ionia, Friday at 10:30 a.m. and his remains will be brought here for interment.
