Albert and Hugo Loewe were sons of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Loewe, tailors here for any years. The sons grew up here and then located in San Francisco as tailors. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Loewe went to Golden Arrow Ranch in California the latter part of July. He was an ardent fisherman and after their arrival at the ranch on July 28, he went out a short distance to American River for a half day of fishing and never returned. Searching parties, sheriff’s posses, dogs and helicopters searched the area for days, finding no trace of him. Later an old miner and five companions took up the search and found his body at the bottom of a canyon where he may have fallen from a rock ledge. There was evidence that he had tried to start a fire before he died. His funeral was held August 22 in San Francisco and he was buried in Golden Gate cemetery with military services and Masonic rites.
