The Belding Banner, Thursday, December 14, 1905

Laura Long died at the county home, Dec. 11th, 1905 and her remains were 
brought here for interment in the old cemetery by the side of her son, Wayland 
D. Long.  The deceased was 81 years old, widow of Joseph Long, who resided 
here until 1886 when they removed to Tennessee, selling the farm now known as 
the Belding farm to Z. W. Gooding at the time.  Her husband died there and she 
returned home penniless.  She was a member of the M. E. church while a 
resident of this place.  One son, Chas. W. Long, of Grand Rapids, survives her.
