The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Monday, February 7, 1938

Mrs. Ellen Long, 79, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Cusack, 
near Pewamo Sunday morning after an illness of nine weeks.  She was born in 
Ionia April 16, 1858, the daughter of Patrick and Ellen Curry.  She came to 
North Plains at the age of four and resided there until her marriage to John 
Long of near Fowler.  Mr. Long died 28 years ago.

She was the mother of 10 children, the seven surviving are four daughters, 
Mrs. Elizabeth Cusack, Miss Agnes Long of Detroit, Mrs. John Fitzpatrick of 
Hubbardston, Mrs. J. W. Hersh of Avilla, Ind., three sons, James P. and Joseph 
of Eaton Rapids and B. W. Long; a sister, Mrs. Mary Long of Fowler and 13 
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The body will remain at the Cusack home until Wednesday morning.  Funeral 
services will be held from the St. Johns church at Hubbardston Wednesday 
morning, February 9, at 10 o’clock with burial in Holy Trinity cemetery at 
Fowler.
