R. Long was attended Sunday afternoon from the residence at the State hospital and was very largely attended both by friends from Ionia and by many from away. There were a number of beautiful floral pieces sent from friends outside the city and pieces from the women patients and employees of the hospital. The service was conducted by Rev. A. R. Mitchell of the Episcopal church and the simple Episcopalian service was used. The pallbearers were Chas. F. Backus of Detroit, F. A. Washburn of Belding, H. B. Webber, Dr. Samuel Bell of Detroit, Dr. C. P. Lathrop, Hastings and Judge Montgomery Webster. The remains were laid temporarily in the Wagar mausoleum at Highland park cemetery, pending their possible removal later to Detroit. Among those from away who were here to attend the funeral were Douglas Cochrane and Mrs. Sarah Cochrane of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gibson, of Greenville; Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Bedford and daughters of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Washburn and Miss Washburn of Belding; Dr. Marker of Eloise; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. K. Jackson Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Kennedy and Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy, Jr., of Lakeview; Dr. Noble of Kalamazoo; Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Freeman, Huntington, W. V., Moody Freeman, Grand Rapids; J. K. Flood, Mr. and Mrs. Chas.
