Longanbach, age 68, of Lake Odessa, passed away Monday, October 27, 1997 at his residence. Mr. Longanbach was born on January 6, 1929 in St. Louis, the son of Walter and Lois (Shellhaas) Longanbach. Mr. Longanbach graduated from Ionia High School and was married to Shirley Burlingame on May 6, 1950 in Ionia. He served in the United States Army from September 1948 until June of 1952. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Parsons Construction Company for several years, retiring in 1994. Mr. Longanbach was a life member of the Portland VFW. Mr. Longanbach was preceded in death by one son, Charles in 1963. Mr. Longanbach is survived by his wife, Shirley; four daughters, Elaine (William) Fraser of Mason, Cynthia Crawford of Crocket, Texas, Janet (Larry) Eberhard of Lake Odessa, Susan (Russell)Rhodes of Vermontville; two sons, James Longanbach of Lake Odessa, Michael (Erika) Longanbach of Lake Odessa; 20 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; three brothers, Walter Longanbach of Germany, John (Pearl) Longanbach of Portland, Lewis (Juanita) Longanbach of Williamston; one sister, Ann (Harlan) Middaugh of Lake Odessa; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 30, 1997 at the Koops Funeral Chapel, Lake Odessa. Reverend Brian Allbright officiated. Interment took place at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Ionia.
