Longe, 60, a former resident of Ionia, died Thursday, March 15 at the V.A.C. Brown hospital, Dayton, Ohio. Born in Ionia and living on East Washington street, he was the son of Fred and Nellie Longe. He left Ionia previous to entering the service in World War I and served in Europe. Surviving are cousins, Louis C. Rabaut, congressman of the 14th district, Grosse Pointe Park and William Longe of Ionia. He was preceded in death by his father; his mother died in 1951 at Grosse Pointe Park; a brother William was killed in England during World War I; and brother Fred Jr., died in Ionia while a youngster. A Requiem mass was sung at the V.A.C. Brown hospital, Monday and the body will arrive at the Phelps funeral chapel Tuesday, March 20, at 4 a.m., where it will remain until time of services. Interment will be at the family lot in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
