He was born July 12, 1852, in Dorchester, Ontario, and was the son of George and Alice Longfield, both born in England. October 29, 1878, he married, and March 10, 1942, his wife Jane, preceded him in death. The couple celebrated their sixty-second wedding anniversary October 29, 1941. George Longfield was the last member of a family of 14. After his marriage in Canada he and Mrs. Longfield moved to Grand Rapids, where he was a carpenter by trade. The couple were both members of the Burton Heights Methodist church. Surviving him besides the son, Earl, is another son, Percy Longfield, of South Bend, Ind.; seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Stone funeral home. Rev. Howard Fuller of the LeValley Methodist church will officiate and burial will be in the Garfield Park cemetery.
