J. Longwell Died Suddenly This Morning Well Known Ionian While On Street Attending to Business Stricken By Death. Nathan J. Longwell, well known Ionian, dropped dead on Railroad street this morning at 10 o’clock, while making a business call at a residence there. Mr. Longwell had been afflicted for some time with heart affection, but was around as usual. He was standing on the porch when he suddenly fell over backwards and died almost instantly. Mr. Longwell was 74 years of age and leaves a wife to whom he was married a few years ago and three sons and one daughter, Roy and Floyd Longwell of Ionia, Arthur of Big Rapids and Mrs. Alice VanVleck of Ionia, also one brother in New… [missing words] He was an old soldier, a jolly, good natured, honest citizen, leaving many friends who regret his sudden taking away. Coroner Boynton was called but decided that no inquest was necessary, and the remains were taken to the home, 425 Rich street. Funeral announcements will be made tomorrow. ---- The funeral service for J.N. Longwell will be attended from the home on North Rich street Friday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, with interment in Highland Park cemetery.
