Longwell, 68, of 438 East Lincoln avenue, died at his home Friday evening where he was taken ill Thursday afternoon. He had been in poor health for some time. He was born in Lyons April 28, 1870, the son of Nelson and Charlotte Burns Longwell, and with his parents moved to Bloomer township when he was nine years old. May 25, 1892, he was married to Emma Decker in Ionia by the Rev. Lennox, former Methodist Episcopal minister of the Ionia church. They began their marriage life on a farm in Ronald township and resided there until 1918 when they moved to Ionia where they have lived since. For a number of years he was employed in the Ogilvie garage. He was a member of the Ionia Church of Christ. Surviving besides the wife are seven children, Earl Longwell of Ionia, Leo Longwell of Lake Odessa, Mrs. W.E. Brabb of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Wendell Brooks of Dearborn, Mrs. Ernest Green of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Charles Davis of Dearborn and Clare, at home; a brother, Arthur Longwell of Big Rapids; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held from the home on Lincoln avenue Monday afternoon, August 15, at 2:30 o’clock with the Rev. C.A. Brady, pastor of the Ionia Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Park cemetery.
