Loomis, 71, of Belding passed away Sunday, March 30, 2003 at the Veterans Hospital, Ann Arbor. He was born April 24, 1931 in St. Johns, the son of William “Shorty” and Florence Bowers Loomis. Donald graduated from St. Louis High School and served as a medic during the Korean War. He worked for a number of years as an emergency medical technician for Gratiot County Ambulance Service. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth and Margaret; and two brothers, Roby and Gerald. He is survived by his children, Melissa and Michael Williams of Carson City, Larry and Janell Loomis of Muskegon, Mark Loomis and special friend Melissa of Reese, Tim Loomis and Cindy Carson and family of Alma, Kimberly and David Porter of Belding; sisters and brothers, Barb Riggle of Mount Pleasant, Bill and Jo Loomis of Carson City, James Loomis of Longneck, Delaware, close fiend, Roy King of Edmore; and daughter-in-law, Julie Foster of St. Louis. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Interment is in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Visitation is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the MIC unit of the Veterans Hospital in Ann Arbor the loving care and help given to their dad.
