Alexander Loomis, Gratiot Pioneer, Dies at Age of 79

Alexander Loomis, age 79, a pioneer resident of Gratiot county, passed away
Tuesday night at 12 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry Harter, 524
North Jefferson street.  He had made his home with his daughter for the past two
and a half years.  Mr. Loomis was born in New York in 1846, and came to Gratiot
county with his parents in 1858.  He was united in marriage to Ella Lawrence in
1870.  They were the parents of eight children, five of whom are living.

The five whom survive Mr. Loomis are Mrs. Alda Bosley, of Newark; Mrs. Cora
Dunlap, of Shelby, O.; Mrs. Mary Harter, and Charles Loomis, of Ionia, and
Arthur Loomis, of Detroit.

The funeral will be held from the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Harter Saturday
afternoon at 2 o’clock.  Burial will take place at Highland Park.
