The remains of Jesse Loomis arrived in the city at 12:50 today, from Cheyenne, Wyoming, accompanied by Major Arthur P. Loomis, and were taken at once to the Berlin farm home . . . [unreadable lines] . . . four o’clock this afternoon. A large number of the family friends from Ionia attended. The discourse was by Rev. M.L. Fox of the M.E. church, and the remains were laid beside the father and mother, in the Balcom cemetery. The bereavement was so generally expressed when the sad information reached Ionia, that it seemed even the sealed cars might hear it. Jesse Loomis was a bright student. His tastes were literary as well as social, and in the swift pilgrimage “from the rosy dawn of birth to death’s sad night,” he wrought much – quite as much for others as for himself, perhaps. He was a young man with enlarged views and of fine application. The young life is closed, but the hearts of all who knew him are gladdened by the conviction that with him “all is well.” [Transcriber's Note: There is a notation on the obituary card that he was the son of James W. and Mary F. Loomis.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/l/loomis32599nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
