The Ionia County News, Thursday, August 5, 1943
Funeral service for Mrs. Carrie Sessions Loomis, 81, lifetime resident of 
Ionia, was held from the Stone Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon with burial in 
Balcom cemetery.  Mrs. Loomis, a descendent of Samuel Dexter, founder of 
Ionia, died in Blodgett hospital, Grand Rapids, Saturday, July 31, following 
an operation and a week of serious illness.

She was born in Ionia, March 25, 1862, the daughter of Alonzo Sessions and 
Celia (Dexter) Sessions.  In November 1894 she was united in marriage with 
Arthur Loomis of Ionia.  She was a member of the Ionia Chapter D.A.R., the 
Ionia Womans Literary Club and the Berlin Ladies Aid Society.  

Surviving are a daughter and three sons, Miss Frances Loomis and Dexter 
Loomis, Detroit; James Loomis, Flint, and John Loomis, Berlin township.  Mr. 
Loomis died in 1930.

Bearers were John and James Loomis, Lee Yates and Joel Benedict.   Stevens 
Thomson Mason Chapter, D.A.R., attended the service in a body.
