Hulda A. Loper, 81, of Belding passed away Sunday, May 25, 2003 at United 
Memorial Health Center Long Term Care Unit in Greenville.  She was born 
December 27, 1921 in Lake Odessa, the daughter of Chester J. and Alice Gibbs 
Hansbarger.

Hulda graduated from Muir High School.  She was a member of the Blue Star 
Mothers and the First Congregational Church of Belding.  She married Marvin R. 
Loper September 27, 1941 in Owosso and he preceded her in death on March 17, 
1997.  Hulda was also preceded by her parents, a son Marvin Loper Jr. in 1982, 
her brother, Franklin “Bud” Hansbarger, and a brother-in-law, Benson Sage.

She is survived by her children, Mary and Richard Reeves of Belding, Joseph 
and Jane Loper of Jamestown, Ohio and Mike and Cheryl Loper of Belding.  Hulda 
is also survived by 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and two sisters 
and a brother-in-law, Eloise Sage of Muskegon and Barbara and James Thompson 
of Oregon.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Congregational Church in 
Belding with the Rev. Dr. Dick Woodward officiating.  Interment will be in 
River Ridge Cemetery.  Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. 
Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.  Memorial contributions 
may be made to First Congregational Church of Visiting Nurse Hospice.
