April 24, 1907 Addie Belle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Lord, was born near Oswego, N.Y., Aug. 10, 1876. When about 3 years old her parents moved to Michigan, where she resided at the farm home in Easton the most part of her life. She attended the High school in Ionia, but decided to go to Marion, Ind., Sept. 4, 1889, and graduated from the Normal in 1890, in oratory in 1891, in scientific in 1892. She went then to North Dakota to teach and remained four years, where she made boats of friends who remembered her in her long sickness with the kindliest letters and flowers coming the long distance to brighten the sick room. When her health failed, she was preparing to enter the contest for the election of district Superintendent of Schools, comprising 3 counties, coming home in Nov. 10 last. She was a patient sufferer ever since, welcoming every one with a smile and a cheerful word. She joined the Methodist church when very young and was a consistent Christian to the day of her death, which occurred on April 21, ’07. Rev. Dr. Cogsball officiated at the funeral services. Mrs. Eugene Smith and Mrs. Thane Benedict sang. The pall bearers were S.L. Lord, a brother, L. Harrington, Ray Dildine and Allan Kaufman, cousin. She leaves to mourn her going, an aged foster-grandmother 93 years old, besides father, mother, brother and wife. The ladies of Ionia Hive attended the funeral in a body, she being a member of that order. Interment was in Highland Park. Card of Thanks. We wish in this way to thank the neighbors who assisted us in so many ways through the long sickness of our daughter and sister; the Aid Society of Easton for the beautiful flowers; the ladies of Ionia Hive for the flowers sent during sickness and at funeral; also Dr. W.L. Barnes for flowers. Rev. Cogsball for his cheering words, the singers who sang and all others who in any way assisted in lessening our great grief. Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Lord, Mr. and Mrs. S.L.
