Nov. 14, 1890 DEATH’S HARVEST. Mrs. Mary, beloved wife of Judge Louis S. Lovell, died at the family residence on Friday last, aged 70 years. Mary Thayer was born in Vermont, was married in 1842 to Louis S. Lovell, who, the year previous, had located in Ionia. She has thus been a resident of Ionia nearly half a century. She was known in her lifetime as a woman of generous impulses, and her womanly qualities were often felt for good. During all this long period, she was an active and promoting member of the Presbyterian society of this city, and it is in the social circles of this church where her counsel and work will be much missed. Funeral services were from the home on Sunday; conducted by Rev. Geo. D. Lindsay, assisted by Rev. Alfred Cornell and Rev. David A. Jewell, and the remains were laid at rest in Highland Park. Among the relatives and friends in attendance were, Geo. G. Lovell of Spring Lake, Mrs. John Patton Jr. and N.L. Avery of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Rev. Job Pierson and Prof. Ewing of Alma, Mrs. Sr. Foote of Muskegon,, and the two sons of Judge and Mrs. Lovell, Homer T. of Chicago and Henry H. of Grand Rapids.
