March 4, 1897 Charles R. Lowe, formerly a D., G. R. & W. engineer, died Tuesday morning at 6:30 o'clock at his rooms on East Front street, of Jaundice. Deceased had been ailing for several months, but was taken seriously ill about two weeks ago, since that time he has been failing every day. His brother, Edward Lowe, arrived Friday from Milwaukee and has been with him since. Mr. Lowe was 34 years of age. He was a member of Ionia Lodge, No. 36, F. & A. M, and the funeral services will be conducted by that order. He was also a member of the local tent, K. O. T M., carrying a thousand dollar certificate, payable to his brother. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon from the M. E. church at 2 o'clock, at the house at 1:30. The Macabees will also attend in a body and act as escort. The burial will be in Highland Park. Ionia Sentinel Thurs. March 11, 1897 The funeral services for Chas. F. Lowe, were held Friday afternoon from the M. E. church at 2:30 o'clock, the remarks by Rev. D. F. Barnes were appropriate. There was a good attendance of friends of deceased. The Masons were in charge of the funeral, and turned out about 25 in number. The Maccabees also turned out to the number of 40, acting as escorts from the church to the grave, where the usual Masonic services were read. E. D. Lowe, of Milwaukee, brother of deceased was the only relative here to attend the funeral. Additional Comments: Highland Park Cem.-No Marker.
