LOWE DIES SATURDAY EVENING Resident of Sebewa and Odessa many Years, Leaves One Brother. Funeral at Home Monday. With the death of Egbert W.Lowe, Sebewa and Odessa loses one of its early resident. Coming to Michigan from New York more than sixty years ago as a young man he built a flour and feed mill at Sebewa corners. When the town of Lake Odessa sprung up, a flour and feed mill was established by Robert Ainsworth now deceases, where Kart's mill now stand, and Mr.Lowe worked there as a miller. Later he worked fo Lemuel Heaton in his flour mill. when Mr.Heaton's mill burned he moved to Lansing. He returned to Lake Odessa about fifteen years ago, retiring from active labor. His wife died last February and son after he suffered a stroke of paralysis from which, although able to get about somewhat, he never fully recovered and died at the local hospital from other ailments incident to old age. The funeral was held at the home Monday afternoon. Rev.George I Start preached a fine sermon. Mr. and Mrs. R.W. Goodemoot sang two numbers. Interment was at Lake side cemetery where the local Masonic Order had charge of the service with Gottlieb Kussmaul giving the commitment service rites very impressively. OBITUARY Egbert W. Lowe was born May 10, 1853 in Wilson,Niagara county, New York and died August 3, 1934 aged 81 years, two months,23 days. He was the son of Egbert and Clarissa Lowe who came to Michigan about 65 years ago and located at what is now Sebewa Corners where Mr.Lowe operated a flour and feel mill for many years. He was married to May F. Banister of Ann Arbor, May 25, 1876. He came to Lake Odessa many years ago and worked in the mills of both Robert Ainsworth and Lemuel Heaton. Mr.Lowe left Lake Odessa for awhile moving to Lansing and returned 15 years ago to spend the rest of his life in retirement a his home on Fifth Avenue. He had been a Mason for 40 years and for more than a decade had acted as janitor and tyler of the Masonic lodge. He was also a loyal member of the local Eastern Star chapter. He is survived by one brother Dayton O.Lowe and one nephew, Otho Lowe of Sebewa. Additional Comments: Lakeside Cem.
