All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Ransom mlnransom@chartermi.net June 20, 2011, 8:29 pm The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, November 29, 1931 Leon Leroy Lower, 62, died at his home on Fargo street some time Saturday night after retiring, and was found dead in bed by his son, James, of Grand Rapids, about 12 o’clock Sunday when he called at the house. Mr. Lower had seemed well although he had suffered a light stroke three years ago. Mrs. Lower was in Grand Rapids visiting, and Mr. Lower was alone at home. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. F. J. Fitch at the Boynton funeral chapel Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery. Mr. Lower was born in Campus, Ill., where he was reared and where he spent the greater part of his life, coming to Michigan nine years ago. While he lived for a time on a farm, he was naturally a mechanic with the inception of the automobile industry he began operating a garage. Several years he operated a Ford garage at Campus, Ill. After coming to Ionia he was employed by the Jackson Motor sales, where he formed a legion of friends by his efficient and courteous service. He leaves the widow and the following children: Arthur, of Ionia township, Everett and James, of Grand Rapids; Milton, of Campus, Ill,; Mrs. Lester Dadd, of Grand Rapids; and Gladys who lives at home. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Walter Morrison, of Kansas City, Co.; Mrs. T. P. Maguire, of Campus, Ill.; Mrs. Benjamin Morris, of Nevada, Ia.; Mrs. John Parsons, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Albert Lower and Frank Lower, of Dwight, Ill. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen.
