May 27, 1995 Lower, Phillip L. May 26, 1995 Ionia Sentinel Standard – Sat. May 27, 1995 IONIA – Phillip L. Lower, 64, of Ionia passed away May 26, at his home. Lower was born the son of Arthur and Catherine (Brennen) Lower on July 11, 1930 in Ionia. He graduated from SS. Peter and Paul School in 1948. He married Eileen Lund on Sept. 16, 1950. He was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus where he had been past Grand Knight. He farmed with his father until 1960, then he worked for Mitchell Bentley in Ionia. He then worked with his brothers at Lower Bros. John Deere Implement. He started the Lower & Sons John Deere Lawn and Garden in Lansing in 1972. He retired from Bees Chevrolet in St. Johns in 1985. Surviving him are his wife Eileen; three sons, Thomas (Kitty) Lower of Ionia, Daniel (Gail) Lower of Ionia, and Eric (Traccie) Lower of Saranac; one daughter Teresa (Anthony) Antonetti of Ionia; 13 grandchildren; mother-in-law Arlean Robinson of Ionia; father-in-law Carl Lund of Belding; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Donald, Gaylord and Robert Lower. The funeral mass will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hall as presider. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday at the Rich St. Chapel. Memorial contributions can be made to Ionia Area Hospice or the SS. Peter and Paul School Trust Fund. Additional Comments: Mt.
