He was born May 24, 1924, at the Lower family residence in Ionia township, the son of Arthur A. and Catherine L. Brennan Lower. He attended SS Peter and Paul school and was a self employed mechanic at the residence on Stage road during World War II. In 1946 he formed a partnership with his brothers known as Lower Brothers on M21 East of Ionia. He disposed of his interest in 1959 and sold used cars in Ionia for a year before starting an automobile agency in 1960. In 1963 he sold this agency and worked for his brothers as a farm machinery salesman, the position he held at the time of his death. A member of SS Peter and Paul church he also belonged to the Loyal Order of Moose and a former member of K of C, Elks and Ionia Country club. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Catherine Lower, son Richard and daughter, Gay Lynn, four brothers, John of California, Donald, Robert and Phillip of Ionia. Funeral mass will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at SS Peter and Paul church with Rev. Fr. Ronald Schneider officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
