Ionia Sentinel Standard, 8 Mar 1944

Mrs. Vira Gates Lowery, 77, died early Wednesday morning as the result of a
heart ailment at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Carr of Lake Odessa, where she
had been cared for for the past three weeks.  She was born in Roxanne county,
August 30, 1866, and had maintained a dressmaking shop in Lake Odessa since
1918.  She was a member of the Rebakah lodge of Lake Odessa.

Surviving her is a brother, Sanford Gates, of Almont, Calif.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Wortley &
Baine funeral chapel Lake Odessa.  Rev. J.W. Winger will officiate and burial
will be in Lakeside cemetery.
