JOHN LOWREY ------------- STRUCK BY TRAIN THURSDAY AFTERNOON, WELL KNOWN RESIDENT SUCCUMBS FOLLOWING MORNING. ------------ Mrs. John Lowrey, who was struck by a freight train at the crossing just east of Miner's store last week Thursday afternoon, succumbed to her injuries early the following morning. The funeral was held from the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. L. L. Steadman preaching the sermon. Mrs. C. A. Lapo and Mrs. A. J. Dann sang. Deceased was laid to rest in Lakeside. Mrs. Lowrey was one of Lake Odessa's well known and best loved residents, and her death was the cause of sincere grief to many. Many relatives, quite a few from a distance, attended the funeral. ------------- OBITUARY Harriet Welch was bor in Novi, Oakland county, Michigan, April 13, 1846 and died May 24, 1917. She was united in marriage to John Lowrey, May 5, 1861. To this union four children were born, Mrs. Frank Mitchell of Berlin township, Mrs. Jack Aungst of Odessa township, Frank W. Lowrey of Lake Odessa and Thomas Lowrey, Berlin township. She leaves a host of friends to mourn her loss also three brothers and one sister. She died in Lake Odessa, May 25, aged 71 years, one month and 12 days. This is the first break in the family in 56 years.
