The Ionia Daily Standard, Friday, May 25, 1917
Lake Odessa, May 25.  Mrs. John Lowry, a pioneer resident of Lake Odessa was 
killed in an accident late yesterday when she was struck by a Pere Marquette 
freight train and thrown 40 feet, sustaining a fractured shoulder and internal 
injuries.  She was returning home from town and being deaf walked in front of 
the whistle.  She died early today.
