Lucas, who was fatally injured in a truck accident early Wednesday morning, will be Friday at 2 o’clock in Lucas at the Lucas Rehoboth Reformed church with burial in Lucas cemetery. His body will be at the Veltsma funeral home until noon Friday. Officiating at the funeral will be Rev. James Bos and Rev. Lloyd Walker of the Evangelical United Brethren church in Ionia. Mr. Lucas graduated from McBain public high school in 1959 and served four years in United States air force. At the time of death he was employed at MacPherson’s Hatchery in Ionia. He was born October 18, 1935 in Lucas to Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lucas and married the former Mary Pettit of Columbus, Ohio. Surviving besides his parents and wife are two daughters, Susan and Collette; three sons, Donald, Richard and Duane all at home; four sisters, Mrs. Harold Meyering and Mrs. Richard Stahl, McBain; Mrs. Alvin Tacoma, Lucas; Mrs. Ben Eisenga, Tustin; two brothers, David of McBain and Harvey of Holland. His grandmother, Mrs. Rena Weenhoff of Lucas also survives. Mr. and Mrs. Lucas and their family came to Ionia two years ago and attend the Evangelical United Brethren church here and Mr. Lucas taught Sunday school and was president of the EUB Men’s organization.
