April 23, 1953 Reubin Lucas Dies Saturday At Fowlerville Reubin Lucas, 87, for years a well-known resident of Portland, died at the home of a son, George, at Fowlerville, where he had resided in recent years. In his earlier fays he was employed as a cooper in the barrel plant long operated by Portland Milling Co. here. Surviving are four sons – George and Glenn, of Fowlerville; Earl of Irons, Michigan and Lyal publisher of the Journal-Era at Berrien Springs, Mich.; two step-sons, Charles Shup, of Perry and C.J. Hill, Portland; a step-daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Koelzer, Portland. Mrs. Lucas was buried at Perry. Attending the funeral from Portland were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Thompson, C.J. Hill and George Bauer.
