Mrs Emma Lucas Dies in Grand Rapids
Mrs Emma Lucas, 95, former local resident passed away early Saturday morning at 
St. Mary's Hospital Grand Rapids. She has been in failing health for several 
years but had been hospitalized four days.

She was born June 11, 1871 in Ionia county, daughter of Jacob and Johanna 
(Richards) Garlinger. She married Elton Lucas in 1892 and he passed away in 
February 1928.

Mrs Lucas was a charter member of the Lake Odessa Congregational Church and 
Sunday School and a life member of the O.E.S.

She resided here until 1942 then made her home with her son-in-law and daughter 
Mr and Mrs Alvin (Ilo) Spaulding and has resided at Pilgrim Manor Grand Rapids 
for about five years.

Surviving besides her daughter are three grandchildren and ten great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with 
burial in Lakeside cemetery. Rev. Arthur Ruder officiated.
