Greenville Library Pioneer Scrapbook, 1889

George R. Luce, an old and highly respected citizen, died at his home in this
township Wednesday morning, Feb. 28, at 1:30 o’clock, aged 81 years.  Mr. Luce
was born in Pittsfield, Mass., March 8th, 1808, and in 1823 he went to
Pittstown, Renssalaer county, New York, and in 1830 was married to Miss Cynthia
A. Wright, of that place.  After marriage they settled in Cambridge, Washington
county, New York, where they lived until their removal to Michigan in 1856,
settling in Otisco, where they have since resided.  There were four children
born to them, one of whom, Mrs. Carrie Green, is dead.  The funeral was held
yesterday at Cook’s Corners.

[Transcriber's Note:  There is a notation on the obituary card that he was
buried in Otisco Cemetery.]
