Luce departed this life at half past six Monday morning aged sixty- nine years, after two years of constantly failing health, although able to be up and around the house and about the grounds. Two weeks ago he was taken worse and it was at once noticed that the end of life was drawing near. Mr. Luce came here from the state of New York, with his parents, and has been a resident and good citizen here for more than forty years. At the call of his country he enlisted and went into the army and at the close came back to this place to farming and blacksmithing. The funeral was held at his late residence at two o’clock Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Edrie Collins, pastor of the Congregational church officiated. The remains were laid to rest in the Otisco cemetery. He leaves a wife and two children, Mrs. Minnie Thompson, and Mr. Burt Luce, besides one brother and one sister.
