Luce died Friday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Vallie Carey, of Grand Rapids. He was born and lived all his life near Palo in Ronald township where he was a farmer until the past 1 ½ years when he and his wife have lived with Mrs. Carey. He was a life member of Masonic lodge in Palo. Surviving Luce are his widow, Ollie; a daughter, Mrs. Carey; a brother, Neil of Portland; a sister, Cordia Bingham, and one grandchild. The body will lie in state at Vanderpoll funeral chapel in Grand Rapids until Tuesday when it will be removed to Palo for funeral services Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Palo Methodist church. Interment will be in Palo cemetery. The family will receive their friends at the funeral home Monday night. ---------- Funeral services for Curtis O. Luce who died Friday noon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Callie Carey, of Grand Rapids were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Palo Methodist church. Bearers were Fred Jenks, Hollis Luce, Dee VanNornum, George Dickerson, Burton Stout and Lemmen Gladding. The Masonic lodge attended the service in a group. The Rev. H. S. Ellis of Belding conducted the funeral services. Mrs. Wingeier, Mrs. McKimble and Mrs. Lewis Herrick furnished the music. Interment was in Palo cemetery. He was born in Ronald township and on March 4, 1896, married Ollie VanNornum of Ronald. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1946.
